This little cutie was inspired by the traumatic fires going on in Australia during 2019 and 2020. I love koalas anyway, but to support the efforts going on there this sweet koala was born!

Materials-

  • I used Hygge Red Heart yarn size 5
    • Grey and Pearl
    • And black worsted weight yarn for the nose.
  • You can use worsted weight for the whole koala, you will use a 3.5mm hook and 2.5mm for the nose.
  • Hook sizes 3.5mm (E) and 4.5mm (7)
  • 18mm Safety Eyes, or if you embroider the eyes (if you are using size 4 yarn use a 15mm hook)
  • Stitch Marker
  • PolyFill
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Sewing Pins

  • Magic Ring Alternative- chain 2 and single crochet in the second chain from the hook.
  • This will be crocheted in the round.

Sew between the eyes starting at the top between rds 28 and 29 and the bottom between rds 23 and 24.

Sew the wrong sides together with the smaller white piece onto the bigger grey piece.

Sew the ear to the head with the grey tail on either side of the head, the top below the 4th rd from the top and the bottom in line with the middle of the eye.

Now you have finished your sweet Koala! I’ve put a lot of thought into what the name could be. Some names I’ve come up with are Kai for males and Kalea for females. You are welcome to pick your own names, but I love these for this little guy!
