Jenny the Jellyfish

This lovely little and big jellyfish! There is no sewing involved with this little jellyfish! I love to twirl her and it’s so satisfying to watch! This is what happens when you use two different sized yarns. I love it!!

Materials–

  • Worsted Weight Yarn
    • Variegated Yarn
  • Super Bulky Weight Yarn
    • Variegated Yarn
• Hook Size 3.5mm (E) (Worsted) or 5.5mm (I) (Super Bulky)
• 12mm (Worsted) or 25mm (Super Bulky) Safety Eyes or an alternative form of eyes
• Stitch Marker
• Polyfill
• Tapestry Needle
• Scissors
• Sewing Pins

• Rd(s)~Round(s)
• MR~Magic Ring
• St(s)~Stitch(s)
• Sl St~Slip Stitch
• Sk St~Skip Stitch
• Ch~Chain
• Sc~Single Crochet
• YO~Yarn Over
• F~Foundation Stitch
• Fsc~Foundation Single Crochet
• Fhdc~Foundation Half Double Crochet
  • Ch 2, *YO, insert hook into 2 ch from hook (into the ch space), YO, pull through, YO, pull through 1 loop to create the ch, YO, and pull through all 3 loops, repeat from * for the desired number of fhdc, but insert hook into the ch created before. (For fsc you don’t need to YO before inserting)
  • Adjust the st for fsc and fhdc
• Hdc~Half Double Crochet
• Dc~Double Crochet
• Inc~Increase
• Dec~Invisible Decrease
  • In front loops only, pick-up the next two loops, YO and pull through two loops.
• FO~Fasten Off
• BLO~Back Loop Only
• FLO~Front Loop Only

Notes–

• Magic Ring Alternative~ch 2 and sc in the second ch from the hook.
• This will be crocheted in the round.
• If not specified or in (), repeat to the end of the round.
• Stuff as you go.

Rd 14a: FLO *sl st, ch (you can choose how much ch with a minimum of 2 chs for the fsc. I did a variety of 2~4 chs in a random order), fsc, fhdc, 5 hdc in the last ch space of the fhdc and continue around to the back of the f, sc, sl st in the ch where the fsc started, if there are any chs sl st in them, sl st 2, repeat around starting at the * (14 raindrops)

Spiral Tentacle–

Make sure when you ch 22 you do so very loose or go up several hook sizes, so that when you sc 3 in each ch you will have enough space. I used 5.5mm and 8mm.

On the FLO of Rd 13, (sl st, ch 22, fsc, fhdc, fdc, 5 dc in the last ch space of the fdc and continue around to the back of the f, sc, sl st in the ch where the fsc started, sl st, 3 sc in each ch all the way up the ch, sl st 2 on the Jellyfish) x12

Don’t FO and proceed to the straight tentacles.

Continue onto FLO of rd 14 and ch 35, FO, (ch 34, sk st, sl st 3, ch 35, FO) x7
